Frequently asked questions
Is UnfollowerTracker free?
Yes. Checking an export is free, with no account and no limit on how often. Paid plans are for keeping a history across exports, tracking several profiles and downloading lists as CSV.
Why does UnfollowerTracker need an export? Can't it just use my username?
Instagram, Threads and TikTok don't let other apps read anyone's follower list from a username. Apps that seem to are logging in with your password or scraping, both of which put your account at risk. Your data export is the safe, official way to get your own lists.
Does UnfollowerTracker upload my export?
No. Your browser opens the file and reads the follower and following lists on your device. If you choose to save a check, only those two lists of usernames are sent to us — never the file.
How long does an Instagram, Threads or TikTok export take?
Instagram and Threads usually prepare it within minutes to a few hours. TikTok often takes a day or more. Each app tells you when it's ready to download.
Why do my UnfollowerTracker results look wrong?
Almost always, the export didn't cover everything. Request it again with the date range set to “All time”, in JSON, with “Followers and following” included.
Is UnfollowerTracker's “unfollowed you” list always accurate?
It lists accounts that followed you in your older export and don't in the newer one. That includes accounts that were deactivated, deleted or renamed, so it isn't proof that someone chose to unfollow you.
Will UnfollowerTracker tell me when someone unfollows me?
No — nothing here runs in the background. You see changes when you add a newer export. That's the trade for never handing over your password.
Is UnfollowerTracker part of Instagram, Threads or TikTok?
No. UnfollowerTracker is independent and not affiliated with Meta or TikTok. We read the export files those platforms give you.
